Virginia's faith was very practical. One of
her favourite readings was from Micah. "He has
told you, O mortal, what is good and what does
the Lord require of you but to do justice and to
love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?"
She lived that to the fullest. She believed that,
while faith and belief in God is crucial,
expression of that faith comes through helping
others. One of her very first hymns was written
about an incident that happened when she was
nursing at the University Hospital in Edmonton,
during the 1950's. She was working on a
children's ward and watched a little boy, who was
dying of a brain tumour, playing with another
little one, recovering from polio.
